1 out of 5 stars Great Pasta takes practice.   October 25, 2005
7 out of 33 found this review helpful

Bought the Machine, and got the correct flour. Made up the dough, and that was a success. Followed the instructions, used the vice to hold the machine to the table, then started off by cleaning the machine with a small piece of dough to get rid of machine oil.

All that worked well.

Then I started to make pasta. Making the sheets was fine, but as soon as I cut them into noodles it all went wrong. They started to stick together. My wife and I ended up having to work together, flouring the noodles as they came out of the machine to stop them sticking.

But the pasta was delicious. I guess it just takes a bit of practice. In future I will leave the dough longer in the fridge to "rest" before rolling it, and have a mini-production line ready to catch and flour the cut noodles.

The machine works great, I have no problems with it. It is cheap, it may fall apart, but for this price who really cares?

I can't wait to try making my own pasta tricolore. And I want to try lasagne, ravioli and canneloni. That way we can freeze our own pasta for easy re-heating. Healthy TV dinners here we come!

4 out of 5 stars It works just fine.   October 20, 2005

You can not argue with the price on this item, and it works fine to get the job done. The rollers in the main unit are easy enough to clean. The cutting blades in the attachment are a little difficult to clean. It would be ok if you could rinse it out with water, but they do not recommend doing that. I would give it 5 stars if it were a little easier to clean after use.

1 out of 5 stars That's right: the knob isn't as sturdy as possible...   October 5, 2005

The knob that controls the width of the rollers broke off after about a month of use. It's made of cheap plastic and broke!

I tried to get a refund/replacement but the manufacturer did not respond to my request. You buy a cheap pasta maker, you get a cheap pasta maker.

Do not purchase this piece of garbage. My wife also says its garbage. Buy a more expensive machine and get what you pay for.

4 out of 5 stars great value!   September 9, 2005

For the money this thing is just the ticket! I think it's a great "starter" pasta machine. I've used it several times with great results. Beats a rolling pin and elbow grease any day!

My only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the knob that sets the roller thickness doesn't seem as sturdy as possible.

4 out of 5 stars pasta maker overview   August 9, 2005

the pasta maker worked as expected with a few minor glitches.
First problem was that the clamp used to hold the maker to the table was not large enough, we had to find another clamp to hold it.the other problem was that the fine pasta slicer was very hard to clean.

thank you
