Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This egg topper will remove the tapered top of a soft-boiled egg, shell and all. Squeeze the handle and a ring of teeth will pierce, crack and separate the top of the eggs as you gently twist and lift up to remove.Made of stainless steel; dishwasher safe

1 out of 5 stars ROUND OPENING TOO SMALL FOR A LARGE SIZE EGG   November 1, 2008
I certainly DO NOT recommend this egg topper. It does, with some care, cut the tapered end of the egg, but leaves a very small opening which can be used if using a stainless steel egg spoon, which has more traction than a plastic one, but why bother at all since it is so imperfect. While trying to get the egg out of such a small opening, it is hard not to crush some of the shell into the egg. Bothersome. I say "Search On!"

4 out of 5 stars ALMOST PERFECT   October 17, 2008

except for the fact that when I tried to cut a large egg in an egg cup, the cutter was not large enough to cut the round end of the egg as in the photo on the package. When I turned the egg around and attempted to cut the smaller, more tapered end of the egg (cutting, lifting up and turning the cutter all at the same time), it did remove a small portion of the egg. The blade is very sharp. My only complaint is that the open circle inside the round blade is not quite large enough for my taste.

Also, to remove the egg (I made a coddled egg) easily, I do not recommend a plastic egg spoon. A more solid one, like stainless steel, will remove the egg whites on the inside side of the egg with less work as it is stronger than the plastic.

Seems to be a quality product that will work, but not quite as I expected.

5 out of 5 stars Works Great!   October 3, 2008
My mother had one of these when I was growing up and like hers, this works great!

4 out of 5 stars If you want a topper, it does the job   August 25, 2008

It works fine as long as you hold your egg firmly and apply a fair bit of pressure while twisting upwards. I always use it with soft boiled eggs and am happy with it. One star off because the finger slots are a little sharp inside.

1 out of 5 stars A big waste of money   April 5, 2008

I had high hopes for this product and all it did was mangle the egg. The hole is too small to work on large eggs and I am sure that extra large would be out of the question. It does not cleanly slice/cut off the top of the egg as promised. It just sort of mushes it up and gets shell in the egg. There is no padding on the finger holes and they cut into your fingers when you try to use it. I would never buy one again. I have thrown mine away.
