3 out of 5 stars The Birth of the McMahon-Helmsley Era   November 24, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Tag Team Battle Royal: Edge & Christian vs Hardy Boyz vs Dudley Boyz vs Acolytes vs Headbangers vs Too Cool vs Mean Street Posse vs Godfather & Mark Henry. Wow, that is a lot of tag teams to type up. Anyways, this was a good opener that had some nice spots in it & got the crowd pumped up. The winners would get the title shot at the Royal Rumble.

Kurt Angle vs Steve Blackman. This was not one of Angle's classic matches but it was far from bad. Angle does put on a good wrestling match but the crowd does not seem to appreciate the effort. Similar to Angle's debut at Survivor Series.

Evening Gown In A Pool Match: Women's Champion Ivory vs Miss Kitty vs Jacqueline vs BB. The only watchable part of this end was the aftermath where Kitty takes off her top. Other than that, this was a wrestlecrap moment.

Hollys vs Rikishi & Viscera. Rikishi deserves all the credit in the world because he made this match somewhat watchable but this was a bad match that got dull & boring at times.

WWF European Champion The British Bulldog vs Val Venis vs D'Lo Brown. This is one of those matches that shows the underrated talent of the WWF. All three men meshed well & put forth a strong effort that heavily made up for the previous two matches. Unfortunately, two of these talents would not do much after this.

Cage Match: Kane vs X-Pac. The good news is that this match was better than their Survivor Series match but the bad news is that it is not great. It was actually getting good but it ended too soon which really hurt the match.

Intercontinental Champion Chyna vs Chris Jericho. Just like their Survivor Series match, Jericho carried this match & made it one of the best of the night. Chyna did held her own here so I will give her credit but Jericho did make this match solid & very good.

WWF Tag Team Champions The New Age Outlaws vs The Rock & Mankind. Rock & Mankind were a unique but very entertaining group. This was the typical tag team meaning that it was non-stop action, while ganging up on one member of a team till he made the hot tag to his partner. Rock & Gunn held this one more than people gave them credit for. The only bad thing about this match was the finish.

WWF Champion The Big Show vs The Big Bossman. I never thought I would say that a WWF Title match was a DUD. The storyline was intense & entertaining but this match was similar to Show's elimination match at Survivor Series where it was over in two minutes. Waste of time.

No Holds Barred: Triple H vs Vince McMahon. This is a forgotten feud & one of the more personal feuds that came from the Attitude Era. If Vince wins, Triple H's marriage to Stephanie McMahon (Vince's daughter) is over & will never get another shot at the WWF Title. If Triple H wins, he gets a shot at the WWF Title whenever he wants. This is Vince McMahon's best match ever. Yeah, this match is better than Vince's matches with Austin, Hogan, Taker, and Rock. They go all over the arena in this hardcore brawl using various weapons. The ending was something of a shocker at the time & this set up the McMahon-Helsmley era.

Overall, this event did surpass the disappointing Survivor Series but it was just one of those events that was average & watchable with some bad matches in between. If you want to check out the main event, it is available on Triple H's "That Damn Good" DVD or on youtube (along with the promo) otherwise I would find this cheap or skip.

jericho vs chyna with miss kitty wwf intercontential championship match

this was a back and forth match which contain some very good and unique spots this match is kinda of sort to but both wrestlers managed to get it done this is a debated match some people say it was a great match others say it was just average i am in the middle of the debate saying that the match was very solid i would almost consider it great i think if the match earned another 5 minutes it probably would have been a great match this match was during the time chyna was the face of women divison in the wwf along side the sexy ivory i do not care what men say about the feature of chyna while she may had similar characteristic of a male deep down inside she was a strong and independent woman who wanted to proved that she was just as capable as male wrestlers in the wwe and i think she did just that this was also the time when chyna started to behave as a regular woman would present herself she even started to develop sexy appeal from 99 to 01 especially when she was working with eddie guerrero i was almost jealous of him after that it was all she wrote jericho had just made his debut in the wwf in a couple of months and already was performing as if he had been there for years his feud with chyna is one of the more enjoyable feuds i witness in my seven years of watching this was one of the best man vs female feuds i have ever viewed next to his other lady and gentleman feud with stephanie mcmahon this match featured chyna display some incredicle athelism moves and counters toward jericho and jericho being a buthole from start to finish and i enjoy every minute of his heel personality this match gets an average rating of three and a half stars due to all the good spots involved in the contest probably would have given it four stars if the match was a tad longer u know who wrote this joe black i black and proud people and better than ever

3 out of 5 stars armagedon 1999 is a 3 star ppv   July 15, 2006

80-76%-perfect
75-71%-awsome
70-66%-good
65-61%-poor
60-56%-awful

1. Edge & Christian V. Hardy Boyz V. Dudley Boyz V. Acolytes V. Headbangers V. Too Cool V. Mean Street Posse V. Godfather & Mark Henry in a tag team battel royal_ this was prboloy the best choice as an opener. I would say that this maatch had its ups and downs with good teams like the hardys edge and christian and the dudleys but people like mark henry ruin this match. Anway this was a goo dfast paced match and given its time when its all said and done a job well done. Winner the Acolytes. Match Rating 7.5/10.

2. Kurt Angle V. Steve Blackman- Not that bad of a match. this was deffenityly not one of angls classics as even he could not carrie balckman thorugh this match. Not horriable match but one that could have been btter. Lots of techcnical wrestling by angle and he wins with a german suplex. WInner Kurt ANgle. match Rating 7/10.

3. Ivory (Champion) V. Miss Kitty V. Jacqueline V. BB Evening Gown In A Pool Match for the WWF Women's Championship- This was not a good match. This had no wrestling involved. The only thing that was good was how hot the women lookjed and at the end miss kity took her top off. WInner and new wwe womens champ miss kity. Match Rating 5.5/10.

4. Hardcore Holly and crash vs. Visicera and Rikishi- this was a filler> It was not a horriable match to put in there but it certainly was not the best one either. It was hard to watch rikishi movesz bery slow in the ring. A solid wrestling match but nothing great. WInners HArdcore holly and crash. MAtch Rating 6/10.

5. British Bulldog (Champion) V. Val Venis V. D'Lo Brown Triple Threat Match for the WWF European Championship- This was a really good triple threat match. this was when the british bulldogs carrer was winding down but he still did an awsome job in this match. Lots of back and forth action hear. Reallly good soild wrestling hear and i think that the british bulldog cariied this macth. WInner and new wwe europen champ the british bulldog. MAtch Rating 8/10.

6. Kane V. X-Pac in a steel cage- This could have been alot better if they gave this more time. This was not a bad match by any means but it could have been better. Your average cage match with a chair used in it and there was no blood in this one which was unusal. Good match. WInner Kane. Match Rating 7.5/10.

7. Chyna (Champion) V. Chris Jericho for WWF Intercontinental Championship - this was a average match and the one thing that made me mad about this was chyna was in it. DOnt get me wrong sdhe was always strong in the womens division but she was not real sdtorng in the mens. THe one person that carried this match was jerico. Soild wrestling match nothing special. WInner and new wwe itc champ Y2J. MAtch Rating 7/10.

8. New Age Outlaws (Champion) V. Rock & Mankind for the wwe tag team titles- This wasd a good tag team match. EVerything flowed in this match from the funny parts by mankind to the soild wrestling by the rock they were an awsome team. Then the bad par comes when the dq happens that is what made this match suck. WInner by dq rock and mankind. MAtch Rating 6.5/10.

9. Big Show (Champion) V. Big Bossman for the wwe title- This was ine of the worst wwe title matches ver. I mean it sucked. WIthe the great storyline behind this and outting bossman over huge well it did not work to well seeing that the match was a 3 minute squash by big show. ANd the only possative ting i can say about the match was it saw albert chockslammed through a table. WInner and still wwe champ the big show. Match RAting 2/10.

10. Triple H def. Vince McMahon in a No Holds Barred match- This was a very brutal match. This i would usually say that if u had a non usual wrestler in hte mani event the match would suck this one did not. This had alot of items and tons of blood tables cahirs trash cans everting this was an awsome mani event. WInner HHH> Match Rating 8.5/10.

Well that raps up another. I would give armageddon 1999 a grade of 65.5/100 which is a 66% whcih means this is a good ppv. I would say that is right and if u can find this for the right price i would buy it. If u can tell me if my review was helpful or not i would apreciate that. Thanks for your time.

1999 Armageddon
December 12, 1999
National Car Rental Center
Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Tag Team Battle Royal:
Edge & Christian V. Hardy Boyz V. Dudley Boyz V. Acolytes V. Headbangers V. Too Cool V. Mean Street Posse V. Godfather & Mark Henry
Good opener that had some great spots in it and was very good near the end. The Acolytes win. **3/4

Kurt Angle V. Steve Blackman
This match could have been better if Angle wasn't so green. Some good wrestling from Angle, but not a really good match at all. Angle wins. *1/2

Evening Gown In A Pool Match for the WWF Women's Championship:
Ivory (Champion) V. Miss Kitty V. Jacqueline V. BB
three letters...DUD. However, you did get to see Kitty's little puppies so...it's all good. Kitty wins by the way.

Hollys V. Viscera & Rikishi
Not a good match but was some what watchable. The Hollys win. *1/2

Triple Threat Match for the WWF European Championship:
British Bulldog (Champion) V. Val Venis V. D'Lo Brown
Good match that could have been better if given more time and if there were better wrestlers in there. Val wins. ***

Steel Cage Match:
Kane V. X-Pac
short match. Good, but not that good. That seems to be the theme of this ppv. kane wins. ***

WWF Intercontinental Championship:
Chyna (Champion) V. Chris Jericho
I hate to say it, this was the match of the night. However, that doesn't mean that it's a awesome match. it was actually solid and good. Jericho wins and wins the title for all man. No not mankind...for all man. I am not sexist. I just don't think Chyna was Intercontinental Championship material. ***1/2

WWF Tag Team Championship:
New Age Outlaws (Champion) V. Rock & Mankind
Good match that was better than what Foley says it was...but not that much better. Rock & Kind win but by DQ. **3/4

WWF Championship:
Big Show (Champion) V. Big Bossman
The storyline was awesome...the match wasn't. I can say that it's the only WWF Championship match that I have ever seen that was a DUD. Show wins.

No Holds Barred Match:
Triple H V. Vince McMahon
This match was, for me, hard to watch. There was way too many weapons and not even selling of the weapons. The did go just about everywhere in the building. Triple H wins. ***

overall, way too matches so the matches that needed time didn't get it.
