Decanting is a wonderful way to let old wines breathe while leaving behind the sediment that accrues during aging. Decanting is even appropriate for younger wines as it can awaken the flavor. As with all of Riedel's fine wine glasses and accessories, this decanter is made of 24-percent full lead crystal, which shows wine's natural brilliance and clarity. The simple yet elegantly designed St. Emillion decanter looks almost like an upside-down margarita glass with a rounded bottom, long neck, and significant 1/2-inch wide lip. A bulb-shaped stopper covers the mouth between pourings to slow down the aeration process. The decanter stands inches tall, is 6 inches wide at its base, and holds 33-1/2 ounces, which equals one entire bottle of wine. --Cristina Vaamonde
