When the whole neighborhood brings the kids to your house, this extra freezer bowl provides needed flexibility by letting you make an additional batch of your favorite ice cream, frozen yogurt, or sorbet. Little assembly is required to use this extra bowl, as it's made to fit on the Cuisinart ice-cream maker. The bowl does not come with a lid for storage of your sweet creations, and so should be kept away from any heat source, and it's not dishwasher-safe. --Teresa Simanton

This extra bowl is exactly like the one that comes with the Cuisinart ICE-20 Automatic 1-1/2-Quart Ice-Cream Maker, White, a double-wall canister that contains freezing liquid, so you can replace a damaged bowl or simply order to have an extra one. If you plan to use your ice cream maker a lot, you'll want to order this, especially because the bowl must be frozen for at least 15 hours prior to freezing, making it impossible to make two ice cream recipes back-to-back. With two bowls, you can freeze up one batch right after the other instead of waiting for another day to make the next flavor. Of course, that means that you must have the freezer space for both.

Recommended for people with the freezer space and for those who frequently use their ice cream makers.

The Cuisinart Ice Cream maker is great, but it does not make a lot of ice cream at once. I would recommend the extra freezer bowl if you have kids.
