In 1973, Austrian glassmaker Claus Riedel created Riedel's top-shelf line of crystal wine glasses with the aid of the Association of Italian Sommeliers. The resulting Sommeliers series is designed for extraordinary effect on the taste and bouquet of a wide range of vintages. Shaped to highlight the best traits of specific varietals, the brilliantly clear full lead crystal stems are hand-made and mouth-blown in Austria. Functional as well as beautiful, the line now includes a long list of glasses for everything from wine to beer to spirits.

This Sommeliers Cognac VSOP glass features an elegant tulip shape that harmonizes the spirit's fruit, acidity, and alcoholic strength. The curved lip and trim sizing of the glass direct the cognac to the best parts of the tongue for tasting caramel while emphasizing its fruit aromas and downplaying its alcoholic intensity. Also recommended for Armagnac (young), Brandy, Calvados, Rum, and Brandy wines, the glass stands 6-1/2 inches high and holds 5-5/8 ounces at full capacity.
