did not receive this item, which i ordered November 25, 2008
Instead, I received the Polder double timer, which is number 89'3'. Not this model which comes on a rope, model number 89'5'. The 893 label was put on the 895 model in the Amazon warehouse, and they must send out by scans, not by checking the products.

I had to speak to several Amazon customer service representatives to straighten this out. IT STILL HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. I had to create a new order to have the black one shipped to me to replace Amazon's mistake. Amazon would not just send the black color if the same item to replace the white, which they said is not presently in stock. The last cust. rep. said the amount of the product would be deducted when it is sent out today. Well, it is 3:30pm PST, and it still has not been shipped to me. It was promised Wednesday delivery, for Thanksgiving, when I spoke to the rep yesterday.

Will update progress.

But it is listed in my Amazon 'rate this item' list, so I thought I'd post my experience with this order.

Defective on Arrival November 14, 2008
Arrived in a sealed package and appeared to be new. None of the functions worked correctly. The clock would not hold the time that I input and neither the timer nor the count up button worked. Returned for refund.

A timer you can hear June 29, 2008
I wanted a timer I could hear over the TV or if I left the room. I thought the lanyard would make this possible. But the ring is loud enough that I haven't needed to use the lanyard yet. I just hang the timer on the refrigerator with it's magnet. A very handy, easy to use, easy to hear timer. I may order another.

How to set the clock March 2, 2008

Not perfect, but close -- I am on my second one (it's not a good toddler toy), and if anything happens to this one, I'll get another. Only two minor complaints:

1 - Sometimes I bump it while wearing it, and without being aware of it, stop the timer.

2. It took me forever to figure out how to set the clock -- hoping to save you some time, here's the trick: Hold the clock button down until the display disappears, then enter the time. The secret is that you must enter six digits: hhmmss. Which means that anyplace you have a single digit, you must use a leading zero. 00 is ok for the seconds, but you must enter them.

Other than that, you don't need directions -- it's all pretty staightforward.
