Amazon.com Review
No longer guess about whether beef or poultry has reached the correct internal temperature--your meats will be deliciously tender and juicy with this preprogrammable timer. Insert the 7-inch probe and select the preferred temperature setting (rare, medium, well done) for beef, lamb, veal, pork, turkey, chicken, and one custom setting. Curious to know the progress? The large LCD readout on the magnetized display presents internal temperature continuously during cooking. The loud five-minute alarm gives you plenty of time to respond. --Madeleine Miller

Product Description
Polder 307 cooking thermometer is programmed for your convenience. So now you don't have to guess whether foods are cooked properly. Just scroll the menu to select beef, lamb, veal, pork, turkey, and chicken - from rare to well done. (An additional screen lets you add one more setting for your favorite dish.) A loud 1-minute alarm tells you when the food reaches the proper inner temperature. The preprogrammed thermometer comes with a 3-foot-long wire that does not interfere with the oven door so while the probe stays in the meat inside the oven, the digital readout sits on the countertop so that you can keep track of the inner temperature of the food that's cooking. In other words, you don't have to open the oven door to check on the progress of your roast. 1 Year Polder USA Warranty.

1 out of 5 stars Polder probe is weak link   March 10, 2008

I have not 1 but 2 Polder thermometers with bad probes. (I know that they're bad because I tested them in a pot of boiling water). One reads "192 degrees" and the other reads "232 degrees". No way to fix or recalibrate so both thermometers are worthless. BAHHHHH!Polder Original Cooking Timer and Thermometer

3 out of 5 stars Excellent kitchen tool - wish the probe had lasted more than 13 months.   January 13, 2008

This was a great tool. I've made the best roasts and hams ever since I started using it. No more opening the oven and trying to determine if the meat was done to the right degree. Unfortunately, the probe only lasted about 13 months - just out of warranty - after less than a dozen uses. So now it is useless and I am not sure I want to try this brand again.

4 out of 5 stars Great themometer, terrible probe!!!   December 30, 2007
This is a very useful tool for cooking meats of all kinds. However, caveat emptor: the removable probe can be problematic. I got a brand-new one of these products and within the 2nd use, the probe had failed. I was not able to easily get a replacement from Polder as it had been a gift, so ended up purchasing a new probe and then it worked fine. If they could perfect that part of the system, this would be a perfect cooking tool!

1 out of 5 stars Does someone hear a bird? cheap cheap cheap   September 22, 2007

I had this item for about two weeks and loved it. Until, the cord failed and the unit went crazy and gave all wild readings. After reading some reviews here I figured I would contact Polder to see if I could get a replacement cord.

I NEVER heard from them.

Cheap cheap cheap. Not bad customer service.... NO customer service. They didn't even bother to tell me to go away. I will never buy Polder again.

4 out of 5 stars Polder 307 thermometer   May 12, 2007

My first Polder 307 failed when my barbeque overheated. The probe never worked again. I don't fault the product in this case since I didn't mind the temperature adequately.
The recently purchased Polder 307 works perfectly. Once the probe is properly placed, the readout is very accurate.
My only disappointment is the cost of replacement probes. It was far more cost effective to purchase an entirely new unit than a probe. I'd like to see two-packs of probes at a reduced price. That certainly would keep me "brand-loyal."
