In the 1950s Professor Claus Riedel discovered the shape of a wine glass affects the wine's bouquet and taste. He then began to produce glasses in his Austrian studio designed to enhance the flavors of different types of wine, with the bowls varying in size and shape. He emphasized clean, unadorned designs with form following function, and his creations have been placed in collection of museums such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York. According to noted wine-guru Robert Parker of The Wine Advocate magazine, "The finest glasses for both technical and hedonistic purposes are those made by Riedel. The effect of these glasses on fine wine is profound. I cannot emphasize enough what a difference they make."

This set of two Montreal pattern wine glasses is designed for drinking white wine. Enjoy an oaky Chardonnay or a fruity Gewürztraminer to the best possible effect by drinking from these elegant lead crystal glasses featuring dramatically elongated stems and slightly taped bowl bottoms for visual appeal. Each glass holds 11-1/2 ounces but Riedel recommends an ideal serving size of three ounces. Buy the whole line of Montreal stemware or mix-and-match with glasses other Riedel patterns.
