1 out of 5 stars Listen to all the 1-star ratings   November 20, 2008
First, you must listen to all those reviews that have a 1-star rating. This product really doesn't work. I have a very hard time reconciling those reviews with high star ratings based on my experience, which mirrors that of those who say this doesn't cool. Let's think about this - you enter a bottle into a metal-rimmed bucked which does not adjust it's size. Thus, the bucket must be large enough to accomodate all sorts of bottles and is always larger than your specific wine bottle. There is never a 'fit' - only about 10% of the glass of the wine bottle is actually touching something that is cool. How would you expect this mechanism to work?! It can take 1-2 hrs for the display to say it's ready, but as everyone says, you don't notice a difference in the temperature of the wine. It does effectively cool one small portion or vertical strip of the glass bottle itself, however.

Furthermore, how can anyone rate this product with 4 stars when they are using it to cool (or warm???) wine that is stored at 55 degrees. Do you really think that this machine has the accuracy to take wine up or down a few degrees with accuracy based on the mechanism I've stated and the consistent 1-star reviews?

And it is annoyingly loud.

4 out of 5 stars Great Product for the money   September 9, 2008
The electronic wine library gets each varietal to its perfect serving temperature with ease. If you have 15-20 minutes before you want to drink then this unit works great.

2 out of 5 stars Loud, slow, and not terribly effective at what you bought it for   June 24, 2008
Other than that, what's there to complain about?
The new version of the product has a plastic sleeve that gives a more accurate temperature reading but why care when it takes all day to chill the bottle of white? It is unbelievably noisy when operating and couldn't possibly be used any place you want to have a conversation. If you put your white wine in the refrigerator to bring it close to serving temp and then put it in the chiller it might work to your advantage (the unit won't be on very long) but this thing is not worth whatever you're going to pay for it. BTW, there's now a 2-bottle version. It doesn't work any better.

4 out of 5 stars Like it cold   February 29, 2008
We like the wine chiller as we no longer need to mess with bags of ice to have our white wines chilled throughout an entire evening. You can hear the fan as the chiller is working, but is quiet enough that a little soft music in the background or conversation covers any occasional "whir".

1 out of 5 stars Noisy Wine Cooler   February 8, 2008

I bought this with the idea of keeping a bottle of wine cool close at hand. Sort of an ice bucket next to the table without the mess of ice. It is so noisy that it was intrusive and I returned it.
