The Lipstick thermal flask is an outstanding example of Bodum's emphasis on good design at affordable prices. A hit since its introduction in 1983, the fun-looking Lipstick is so-called because of its angled, bright red plastic pouring spout. The same red plastic lines the cap, which pulls off to become a drinking cup. Now made of stainless steel for improved durability and a more modern look, the bottle's vacuum-sealed, double-walled construction keeps liquids hot or cold for up to six hours, a boon for road trips or picnicking.

In addition to the insulated walls, the bottle keeps drinks hot thanks to the push-button pouring system. While the red "lipstick" spout unscrews to admit liquids, it doesn't need to come off in order to pour. A push of the pour button allows liquids to be poured out a line of small holes-albeit rather slowly. When pushed again, the button seals the contents very tightly. A little too large to slip in a briefcase but fine for a picnic basket, the flask measures 11-1/2 inches tall by 4 inches across the base. visually pleasing, but not durable February 25, 2008
I bought this item about 8 months ago and it is now completely non-functional. The push-button release to pour coffee no longer works (sticks open only) and the bottom pad fell off. It fell off the table in the lunchroom and promptly got two large dents in it. Even while it worked, the push-button pour release mechanism is difficult to clean and might harbor some nasty bacteria. It's a cool looking design, but unfortunately not made of very good quality materials. Keep looking...

By now travel flask manufacturers should know that a vessel that doesn't fit in the cupholder of an automobile is less useful and less saleable. Unfortunately, I did not realize that the bottom dimension of this flask was so wide until I got it. It's a nice color and design, and would have been ideal if the bottom were tapered.

This is solidly built, easy to clean and keeps tea & coffee hot (scalding hot) for 6-7 hours! Never needed it to keep anything longer than 7 hours, but it's easy to say it will keep coffee comfortably hot for, at least, a couple more hours.
