Amazon.com Review
Hammocks provide the ultimate relaxation, so let the gentle swinging motion and free-floating midair suspension transport you. Be surrounded in total comfort, taking advantage of that well-deserved moment of respite. The Castaway rope hammock is a classic design, with special wooden spacer bars that keep the hammock spread open at all times. Clearly designed for comfort and durability, the Castaway has nickel-plated fasteners, weatherized natural-cotton rope, and triple-varnished hardwood bars. The hammock's craftsmanship is fantastic, with hand-braided reinforced edges and a woven body with macrame ends for added support. With its superior materials and great design, the Castaway is sure to provide season after season of use either outside or inside.

4 out of 5 stars Omni Castaway Rope Hammock Purchase   July 13, 2007
I am pleased with the hammock so far. It was a great price and I would purchase it again.

3 out of 5 stars I Love Hammocks   May 9, 2007

For the price, this hammock is hard to beat. I took a nap in this product just the other day and I would have to say that I was not at all disappointed with my purchase. Above all else, its simple design is aesthetically pleasing. I am sure that there are higher quality hammocks on the market, but I am not big on spending ridiculous amounts of money for the same end result. I do have to say, however, that I find it rather hard to imagine that two adults could comfortably fit in this product. None the less, I am about six-feet, two inches tall and weigh in at around two hundred pounds and found that I had more than enough room to rest comfortably. I also had to purchase some chain (which can be found at your local hardware store) with which to fasten the hammock between two trees. I am also in the practice of sheltering this product if I know that I will not be using it for a prolonged period of time. All in all, I received more than I expected for the price that I paid.

2 out of 5 stars Cheap Price, Cheap Quality   December 11, 2005

I bought this hammock in Feb' 05 during a sale at amazon. (~$52) Overall I thought the hammock was ok at first, though it stretched a great deal. I bought the stand that goes with it, and even on the highest chain link, it sits very low once you get in. I'm not a huge guy, but I DEFINATELY would not put two people in it. Now it is 10 months down the road, and the hammock frayed and snapped. I used it frequently in the beginning, but only a handful of times the last 5 monthes. The only good thing about it hanging low, was that my fall was only a foot, instead of a few feet. Any idea if there is a warranty?

4 out of 5 stars 2nd hammock   September 26, 2005

I had first bought a hammock almost exactly like this one except it came with 2 hooks with wood-screw ends and 2 chains. It came from the "O" for over $80 over a year ago. After children excessively swinging on it consistently, the ropes had been naturally sawed off by the wood supports where the holes were made for rope access. When it had to be replaced, I chose this one. It was almost identical to the last, but did not come with the extra hardware, hammock only, but only cost $50 (w/ super saver shipping w/ i truely appreciate). this time I tightened up the knots before use, which I recommend to the buyer.

1 out of 5 stars Too weak.   September 19, 2005

I am not happy with this hammock for the following reasons.

1) The rope used for this hammock is too thin; it cuts into the skin and I seriously doubt that it will hold two people safely. This will also be a problem when it has been in the sun for some time (which has to be expected for a hammock), UV rays makes cotton brittle.

2) The ropes are knotted, and not twisted like my previous hammocks, which causes it to cut into the flesh even more (and I weigh less than 120 lbs).

3) I have a standard free-standing hammock stand, and the hammock stretched all the way to the floor when I first used it (again, because the rope is too thin).

If the hammock hadn't been relatively cheap I would have sent it back; I just resented paying again $20 shipping plus having the hassle of packaging/ waiting at the Post office etc.

The only thing I liked was the with of the hammock.
This was one experience I will write off as "you get what you pay for".
