Handmade of mouth-blown full-lead crystal, this wine glass is from Riedel's top-of-the-line Sommeliers collection and is for those who take their wine seriously. This is a diminutive version of Riedel's original Montrachet/Chardonnay glass. The glass is specifically shaped to highlight the fruit and velvety texture of certain white wines--White Burgundy, Chardonnay, Corton-Charlemagne, Meursault, Montrachet, Pouilly-Fuisse, and St. Aubin--while balancing the high alcohol content and low acidity, producing a long, flinty finish. The glass has the unique ability to unleash the freshness in youthful wines and enhance the nutty, mineral flavors in more mature wines. The large bowl allows room for the wine's rich bouquet to unfold without becoming too intense. The wide mouth emphasizes the acidity of the wine by directing the wine to the edges of the tongue where sourness is detected. The glass weighs a light 6 ounces and holds 5-3/4 ounces of wine.
