Wine aficionados will do whatever is necessary to achieve greatness from their prized collections. You have the right corkscrew, the right glasses, some good vintages--now add the decanting step to your evening ritual. While it won't turn vinegar sweet, this decanter really does help deepen the flavors of even your blandest red. By providing a broad surface area for the wine, the decanter allows controlled exposure to air, affecting all the little flavor nuances that make wine so enjoyable. The sloped spout makes pouring a breeze, and the construction material--looks like glass, sounds like glass, but is as lightweight as plastic--makes it easy to handle. Because of the unusual shape, it is best to hand wash using a long-handled brush to get the decanter really clean. --Jill Lightner

FANTASTIC!! April 20, 2008
This thing has changed my life. Who needs to spend a hundred bucks on a fancy crystal decanter when this does such a good job? It looks great, feels sturdy, and decants superbly. The width is perfect for a regular bottle of wine (i.e. maximum surface area is reached when a full bottle is poured).

What has amazed me is that even cheap bottles of wine "open up" and taste so much more rich and full-bodied (and less acidic) after you decant them for ten minutes. I use this every night to decant every and any red wine I buy. It's changed my life. A terrific product!

This decanter works like a champ. The glass is a medium thickness, not too thin but not necessarily strong. I hand-wash mine, kinda scared about what might happen to it in the dishwasher. This decanter will make entertaining with guests a lot more fun than just opening up a bottle.

Got this as a wedding gift (with a nice bottle of red and the filter) for some casual wine-os and they loved it. As another commentor mentioned, this unit is not glass, you can tell by the weight, which makes it easier to pour, but it gives the appearance and sound of glass. I was a little bit worried when I first recieved it because when I picked it up it felt like plastic and I wasn't sure if they would like it, but the first time it got dropped and didnt break it took away my displeasure and they once again said what a great gift it made for them.

A decent value for money, serves the purpose well as a basic decanter. Very sturdy, it has slipped in the sink a few times but has never cracked or chipped.

The funnel/filter is a little expensive.
